Cathy joined our Home Instead Senior Care family in June of 2007. Even though Cathy works for the Marion County School System she still finds time to provide exceptional care to our Clients. Actually Cathy is a CAREGiver at heart, having started sixteen years ago caring for church members and cancer patients before joining Home Instead Senior Care. Perhaps CAREGiving came naturally to Cathy as she was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota as one of 13 children where siblings helped care for one another. After leaving North Dakota, Cathy moved to California, then Georgia, before settling in Florida.
Upon meeting our soft spoken Cathy, it is obvious that she is a compassionate caring individual. One thing you would never guess about Cathy is that in her ??California Days?? she raced her ??55?? Chevy in drag races. She loved racing but she also loved taking her car apart and putting it back together. Cathy was her own skilled mechanic. She also spent time riding her motorcycle on the California roadways.
After starting a family she left her racing ambitions behind and began caring for others.
Over the years Cathy has cared for at least sixteen clients, most of them since joining Home Instead Senior Care. She has fond memories of each one of them. One of her clients was a top official in the Washington D.C. government world. This client went to many presidential inaugurations, including the Kennedy??s and the Reagan??s in addition to traveling the world extensively. The client shared pictures and stories with Cathy that she will always remember. Another client was a pilot and had numerous adventures he shared with Cathy, including the time he crashed his plane and fortunately survived. A client she recently worked with was at one time a chef in a country club and cooked for several well known professional golfers.
CAREGiving has taught Cathy to be more patient and understanding of those around her. She has set her own goal to age gracefully and to appreciate and be thankful to those who may be caring for her later in life.
What makes CAREGiving personal in Cathy??s life is that she believes it is her God given gift. God has placed her with people who are struggling and facing their end of life years. Cathy feels that she can provide comfort, peace and encouragement to them.
In Cathy??s own words, ??Home Instead Senior Care has been a blessing to me.??
In our words, Cathy has been a blessing to Home Instead Senior Care!
